The Garden Brief: Nineteen days before the Knicks receive their 2026 championship rings, the countdown has one enormous destination: Madison Square Garden, where New York will raise its first NBA championship banner since 1973.
What We Know
The NBA has confirmed that the Knicks will raise their championship banner on October 20 before hosting Philadelphia at 7 p.m. ET. NBC Sports says coverage of the banner raising and ring ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Why It Matters
The banner is the permanent arena version of a season that changed the franchise's history. NBA.com now lists championships in 1970, 1973 and 2026.
The Countdown
Training camp opens September 29 and preseason begins October 3. The defending champions will prepare for the next season with the new banner waiting above the court.
